We have a number of events throughout the year which we love being part of, it’s a great way to meet and have fun as well as getting to know new people.
We enjoy a range of Easter services during this special period of celebrating Jesus’ triumph over death following the resurrection. Our reflection on Jesus’ death on the dross for our sin and His glorious Resurrection begins with a joint Maundy Communion service with other local churches. We have an evening Good Friday service, culminating in a Celebration service on Easter Sunday morning.
Church Fun Day
This annual free event takes place in June and is open to all members of the community. The afternoon involves a variety of stalls which include craft making, selection of games, bouncy castle, face painting and sports activities as well as competitions. There is always a Gospel input, usually directed at the children in the form of a Biblical puppet show or from the Birmingham City Mission bus. The event is well known in the area and each year we are blessed with a great turn out.
The annual church outing takes place in the Summer. We have a mixture of both church family and local friends who enjoy the trip. This is a good opportunity to get to know each other and have fun usually at the seaside. Previous destinations have included Blackpool, Southend & Weston-super-Mare.
The Harvest celebration is held in September. It is a time to thank God for His help and provision throughout the year. We encourage people to donate non–perishable foods which are displayed in the church during the day and then packaged and sent to the Birmingham City Mission food bank. This food is distributed to the homeless within Birmingham.
The Handsworth Convention
This takes place each year in October and is a joint weekend with another local evangelical church, Emmanuel Church, Handsworth. We publicise the Convention amongst the local churches. The weekend consists of a Saturday evening meeting and two Sunday services, taken by a guest speaker. Please contact us for further details of this years convention.
This takes place twice a year, where missionaries or ex-missionaries are asked to come and talk about their work in various parts of the world. Our main interest has revolved around Papua and Sierra Leone, where our church has previously supported missionaries.
To round off the year, we have a range of events covering the Christmas period. The Christmas Party is aimed at everyone of all ages as we have an evening of fun and games followed by a short message on the meaning of Christmas. We have a Carol Service which mainly consists of raising our voices in song remembering Jesus, Our Saviour being born, we also have Bible readings from the church family. The Christmas Day service is a family orientated service where the true meaning of Christmas is celebrated.
