History

Our history can be traced back to the 1870’s when a church began in Wattville Road, but it was in 1980 that we moved into our present building.  We have the blessing of being a church that reflects our local community, as we have a multi-racial and multi-cultural congregation and leadership.  We are a member of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), and base our beliefs and practices on the teaching of the Bible which we believe to be God’s message to the world.  The core of this message is that through the death on the cross of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, God has provided the way we can find forgiveness of our sin and peace with Him.  Our services include a message from the Bible applied to today and a mixture of traditional and contemporary Christian worship music.  In addition, we have a Sunday school, which takes place during part of the morning worship.

As a church family, we try to care for and encourage each other in our Christian faith, through prayer and practical support.  At times, someone may have an issue of a confidential or difficult nature and the Pastor and leaders are available to pray and offer any appropriate advice, with an awareness of some of the cultural sensitivities that may be involved.  We also recognise we have both the great privilege and responsibility to reach out to the community in Handsworth, through various events, midweek youth activities, and special services.

Whether you are someone looking to develop your relationship with God or simply want to know a little more concerning the Christian faith, you will be very welcome at our services.
